January Newsletter Update

MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS MANAGER, SCOTT HOLLERUD

I hope everyone had a great holiday and a Happy New Year!  There was a great turnout at the Holiday Party this year and it was great to see everyone.  The new contract was ratified and allocations were made at the December meeting.  Common Arc was a success this year.  Thanks to everyone who participated.  The Shipyard at Fraser will be starting soon along with our other spring outage work.  We will be sending out 38 letters for new indenturement this spring, so there will be new Apprentices on the job.  Please watch out for them and teach them the Boilermaker way.

Some exciting news!  Aptim has a new Project Manager at Flint Hills Refinery.  A big congratulations to Travis Lewis!

Bill Polchow has accepted a position with Corval and will be leaving us after 15 years of being the northern rep.  I would like to thank him for what he has done for this local and wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor.  Bill’s replacement will be Luke Voigt.  Luke will also be in charge of business development within the local.

NCL open enrollment has been extended until January 31, 2026.  Please take the time to review your life insurance needs.  There is a lot they have to offer.

Suicide is still an ongoing epidemic.  PLEASE check on your friends and family and ask how they are doing.  There is help available: 988 is the National Suicide and Crisis Hotline, MD live for Cigna is 800-235-7748, Boilermakers Substance treatment Program is 877-244-3572, Brightside Health is 415-360-3348.  You can also text HOME or HOLA to 741741 to reach a live volunteer Crisis Counselor.  Suicide is an epidemic within the Boilermakers as well as the construction industry.  We are losing too many brothers and sisters to suicide.

Please take the time and review your pay stubs to make sure everything is correct.  It is a lot easier to deal with issues right away rather than waiting.

Take care and work safe.
